First off, work has been hectic, and that is putting it mildly. After three weeks of getting to know my "kids," I was told that I would be getting a student teacher--for 8 weeks. I am a very private person that likes to do my own thing. I'm also shy and don't do small talk very well. I had about a week to get used to the idea of having someone else in my room with me ALL the time. I must admit that I was anxious about it, and had all kinds of worry about how everything would work out.
Turns out, I had nothing to worry about. The student teacher works hard, has all kinds of ideas that are refreshing to my usual lessons, is professional, and works well with my students.
In other regards to work, there are different kinds of pressure coming from different directions, and it has been a lot to deal with. Chin up. Smile on my face. Moving forward.
A little happy to start the work week. I love this thick, porcelain mug!
Last Thursday, we took Delta and Beulah for a walk before heading to a Cross Country meet. Beulah, being the nosy Lab that she is, picked up a drippy ice cream cone from the sidewalk. It was "gone" before I could get it out of her mouth. On the same walk, she picked up an old tub of hummus (seriously, who throws that on the ground). I wrangled it from her mouth, but not before she swallowed some of the green slime!
Needless to say, she developed a serious case of the "runs." We took her to the vet yesterday and received some antibiotics and other meds that should clear up the bacteria and have her back to normal in no time.
Photo Title: "No Dogs On the Couch!"
We are glad that she is (hopefully) on the mend. It's no fun to see your dog sick, and it is definitely no fun to come home to a messy crate and stay up all night on poo patrol!
In good news, we ran a 5K on Labor Day. Geno placed 2nd overall/1st Masters. He had been suffering from a groin pull, and was unsure about how he'd run, but he did great. I did okay as well. My time wasn't where I'd like it (29:20), but I still finished 4th in my age group. No complaints!
