We woke up Saturday morning to cloudy skies, wet roads, and 44 degrees. Perfect running weather.
The Half Marathon (which Geno was running) started at 8AM. The 5K (my race) started at 8:15. That worked out perfectly, because I was finished in plenty of time to dry off, change into some warm clothes, and see Geno come running in to the finish!
Geno was the overall winner in 1:14:27.
He smoked the competition by more than 4 minutes!
I love these photos that our friend Charlene took during the race:
Interview after crossing the finish line:
I can barely remember anything about the 5K. I had my headphones on, and I was really focused on running as fast as I could. I zoned in to the beat of my music, and didn't look around or think about the scenery or the other runners. My legs felt good, and I really enjoyed the run!
This was my first race as a Master's. It was really neat not to have to worry about any of the younger girls/ladies that were running near me. If they didn't look like they were 40 or over, then I wasn't sweatin' over 'em. :)
I ended up being the third overall Master's...and 2nd in my age group (40-44).
Half Marathon Awards:
