Good Thursday

Today as I was walking my students back from lunch, one of them offered me a half eaten bag of "hot" potato chips.  I politely declined.  I laughed and said that if she had offered me a Honey Bun instead, then I would have taken it without a thought.  I went on to tell them about how when I was a little girl, my Dad would put some butter in a skillet and fry up a Honey Bun to crispy, golden perfection.

I didn't think anything else of it.  About an hour later, one of the girls with whom I'd been having the conversation, put this on my desk:



It was a small gesture, but it MADE my day.  It just goes to show that kids are always listening to what you say, and their hearts are BIG (even if as 8th graders they don't always act like it).


And with that, I will leave you with two more girls that make me smile:
