Soul Detox

The other day, I was reading Jenna's blog (Eat, Live, Run).  She mentioned that the ladies at She Reads Truth are doing a 35 day Soul Detox.  This free website/app gives you a Bible verse everyday that focuses on clearing out the negative things in your life that might be cluttering your thoughts or getting in the way of you being the best person that you can be.  For some reason, this caught my attention.  I was intrigued.

First of all, I am not a fan of organized religion. Although I don't consider myself a member of any specific religion, I am a very spiritual person. There are aspects of several religions that I embrace:  Christianity, Buddhism, Catholicism, and Judaism.  You might think that I am crazy and mixed up, but it works for me.

Anyway... The first day of Soul Detox focused on removing negativity from your life.  I knew one thing that I could take care of immediately:  negative blog reading.  There are a few message boards and blogs that I've followed recently that focus on "picking apart" other bloggers. I would basically read them out of boredom, and then feel cranky afterwards.  When I took a good long look at what I was doing, I realized it was a complete waste of my time.  Why would I want to sit there and read negative things about stuff that I don't even like???  CRAZY!!!  Not only that--what purpose was reading this stuff serving me?  NONE!

I also went through my Reader and "unsubscribed" from blogs that I no longer feel connected to (for whatever reason).  I then added several blogs that are funny, positive, and informative.

Basically, I came to the conclusion that there is enough negativity in this world without seeking it out--and that my time is more wisely spent working on how to make ME a better person!

Keeping that in mind, one of my favorite bloggers, Kelsey at The Go Girl Blog posted today along similar lines.  I love her blog, and she has an awesome post today:  HERE.

  1. I did this awhile ago and it's made blog reading much more enjoyable. It's nice to control the negative we let into our lives when it's possible.
