Birthday Weekend

Last week was crazy at work!  We had two days that we were on a two hour delay (one due to flooding; one due to the possibility of snow), and one day that we dismissed early. It rained for 5 days straight, and everyone was about to go stir crazy.  Thank goodness for a long weekend!

Rain, Rain Go Away!

Saturday was my 40th birthday.  We woke up, ran, then headed to Jackson Bakery for an old fashioned white cake with white icing.  That night, we had Kobe burgers and truffle fries at St. John's Meeting Place.  We had never been there before, and it was great.  I liked the atmosphere as much as the food!

A large portion of the day was spent snuggling with my favorite Yellow Lab.

After St. John's, it was time for cake!

I have friends who rave about the cakes from Jackson Bakery.  Now I know why!  The cake tastes like a doughnut!  YUM!!!

We had cake both Saturday and Sunday nights--> and that was plenty!  I was on a sugar high like you would not believe--and I was feeling it on Sunday morning's long run.  I made it through the 6 miles that I had planned, but I felt sluggish and my form was horrible.  

On Monday afternoon, we had a great track workout.  It was a little breezy, but it felt good to run off some of that birthday cake!
